Greetings from Mexico!! – shouts out loud Juan Harrison, better known as TKUZ. Songwriter, drummer, artist, LOVER…and this is only several epithets about this rocking-soul person. His music production speaks for itself and this time we want you to listen to his MIX for Quixotical and find out much more than just several epithets about him. Because there are things, that you can’t describe words. And these things you will feel and understand only by listening to this great composition set, with 13 tracks by him…yes! all the tracks produced by him! It means, in the next hour you will enter his inside world and learn things you have never known about.

1. How did you start playing drums, writing and producing track music?
-> Hello, my name is Juan Harrison, my story as a drummer is not the classic one of the boy who goes to school and learns, mine was with some pens and a notebook, after my parents saw that my interest in playing the drums was more than a whim because they bought me a second-hand battery mmm it was a Thunder haha although it was not the optimal instrument but I learned to play decent, I lasted a couple of years with it and from playing with my friends I decided to work and buy a better one as much similar to that of Jose Pasillas who at that time was one of my favorite drummers, now with new drums I joined a band called REMI which was made up of 3 friends, we had some dates and due to circumstances we separated, I did not want to stop creating things and I began to use a laptop to program drums and with guitar, bass and a microphone towards what I called experimenting, little by little I got to know synthesizers and I was putting them into my music, it didn’t take long to stop Go “rock” to start making track music.

->Hola mi nombre es Juan Harrison, mi historia como baterista no es la clásica del chico que va a la escuela y aprende, la mia fue con unos bolígrafos y un cuaderno, después que mis padres vieron que mi interés por tocar la batería era mas que un capricho pues me compraron una batería de segunda mano mmm era una Thunder jaja aunque no era el instrumento optimo pero aprendí a tocar decente, dure un par de años con ella y de tocar con mi amigos decidí trabajar y comprarme una mejor lo mas parecido a la de Jose Pasillas que en ese momento era de mis bateristas favoritos, ya con nueva batería entre a una banda llamada REMI la cual la conformaban 3 amigos, tuvimos algunas fechas y por circunstancias nos separamos, yo no quería dejar de crear cosas y comencé a valerme de una laptop par programar baterías y con guitarra, bajo y un micrófono hacia lo que según yo llamaba experimentar, poco a poco fui conociendo de sintetizadores y fui metiéndolos a mi música, no paso mucho tiempo en dejar de hacer “rock” para comenzar a hacer música de pista.
2. What kind of sounds caught your attention and what influences marked you?
-> The sounds that catch me are those that sound from another planet, those sounds that you don’t expect to hear when you put on a track, when I first heard Aphex Twin (which is my top musician) I knew that in electronic music you could create a universe Completely yours, David Carretta was undoubtedly one of the artists that I also admire a lot because they have a very particular and very elegant sound, I must also admit that when I was a child I was a huge fan of Prince and he has also been one of my strong influences.

->Los sonidos que me atrapan son aquellos que suenan de otro planeta, esos sonidos que no esperas escuchar cuando pones un track, cuando escuche por primera vez a Aphex Twin (que es mi top de musico) supe que en la música electrónica podias crear un universo completamente tuyo, David Carretta fue sin duda uno de los artistas que también admiro mucho por que tienen un sonido muy particular y muy elegante, también debo admitir que cuando era niño era muy fan de Prince y el ha también ha sido de mis fuertes influencias.
3. How would you describe your studio work and what opinion do you have of today’s scene regarding producers?
-> I record a drum or bass loop, that depends on how this thousand trips, then I usually improvise a lot to the extent that that same jam tells me if I should continue or leave it, I have changed a lot in my way of making music, currently I feel very satisfied in not having followed a trend and always keeping my line without stopping to think if an artist is going to like it or better yet include it in one of his sets.
Answering the question about the scene and the current producers I think that very few have been able to meet and be able to make their own sound, there is a lot of very raised producer doing nothing and very few artists doing impressive things.

->Grabo un loop de batería o bajo, eso pende de como este mil viaje, después suelo improvisar bastante hasta el grado en el que ese mismo jam me indica si debo seguir o dejarlo, he cambiado mucho en mi forma de hacer música, actualmente me siento muy satisfecho en no haber seguido una tendencia y siempre mantener mi línea sin detenerme a pensar si algún artista le va a gustar o mejor aun la incluya en algún set suyo.
Respondiendo la pregunta sobre la escena y los productores actuales creo que muy pocos han sido capaces de encontrarse y ser capaz de hacerse de su propio sonido, hay mucho productor muy alzado haciendo nada y muy pocos artistas haciendo cosas impresionantes.
4. Tell us 2 production tips for new artists.
-> Tip 1 when recording, each instrument that is to be recorded make sure it is in a single channel for that sound, I already know that it is a mess but believe that so that you have a more quality result
Tip 2 do not be afraid to experiment and above all remember to squeeze your instruments.

->Tip 1 cuando graben, cada instrumento que estén por grabar asegúrense que sea en un único canal para ese sonido, ya se ya se que es un lio pero crean que para que tengan un resultado con mas calidad
Tip 2 no tengan miedo a experimentar y sobre todo recuerden exprimir sus instrumentos.
5. What are you currently working on (material)?
-> I have some remixes to finish, some of them are by Concret of his new work and I am very excited to be able to participate, but to be honest I have worked very little on tracks to publish and I am producing more music that I want regardless of the genre, too I’m in Harrison and El Mundo project with my friend Fracois del Mundocon Claudia Carotti I’m also working, somehow even though I’m not releasing music like Tkuz I can’t stop being active with my other projects.
